| Just a little history about basenjis, they are a small barkless (after ~6 month) dog standing about 16 tall and weighing ~20 lbs. Their coats are unique in that the do not have doggy odor, shed very little and have very little dander (making them exceptional pets for those with allergies). The basenjis is an unusual breed of dog with many cat-like features. They have been a recognized breed in the American Kennel Club (AKC) since 1943. The small dogs were used in Africa to drive game into nets, where they are know for their intelligence and courage in hunting.
They are great pets and companions. They develop very close bonds with their owners. And after you have one, you will just grow to love their beauty, wrinkled forehead, silky coat, tireless gait, and curiosity.
